Job description
An enterprise architect is a senior strategic leader who aligns a company's technology infrastructure with its overarching business goals. They bridge the gap between business strategy and technology execution to drive digital transformation, improve operational efficiency, and reduce costs. [1, 2, 3]
Core Responsibilities
- Strategy & Roadmapping: Develop and maintain architecture roadmaps that outline how current 'as-is' systems will transition to future 'to-be' states to meet business objectives. [1]
- Architecture Governance: Establish technology standards, principles, and policies to ensure scalable, secure, and cost-effective IT deployments across the enterprise. [1, 2]
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a central translator between business leaders, technical teams, and vendors to ensure project designs deliver intended business value. [1]
- Technology Evaluation: Research and evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., cloud, AI, automation) to determine their potential to enhance internal operations. [1, 2, 3]
- Business: Capabilities, organizational structures, and value streams.
- Data: Information management, storage, and analytics strategies.
- Application: The software solutions utilized and how they interact.
- Technology: The underlying hardware, infrastructure, and cloud environments. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering.
- Experience: 7–10+ years in IT, systems architecture, or related domains.
- Certifications: Professional certifications such as TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) are highly preferred by employers. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
